Hi, I have a question about this... We want a return trip to Orlando, May 2020, using our miles, but looking online it's saying no seats available? How do you know what dates are available for the reward flights? Its like a game of battleships and I'm losing my mind lol thanks

Someone pointed me in the direction of this - rewardflightfinder/

Also are you sure your dates have been released? I think they release at slightly less than 1 year in advance so it may be that you need to wait a couple more weeks

Virgin flights release 11 months in advance so they might not be out yet for your dates of travel. I found reward flights about a week after our flights released but it varies massively as to when exactly they come up. You have to keep checking, sometimes several times a day to see.

OK great! Thanks for the info. I've looked at the virgin reward flight page as per link above... And just checked flights using miles for March for guidance... A bit confusing so after some more help... Haven't used this system before... So for 2 of us.. LGW to MCO, 25000 mile points each plus £239 each! So far I have 17000 points so would need to buy 32000 points and with the offer for extra miles this will cost us £435 which makes the total £914ish! I've checked the same flights for cash and coming out at £798! £116 cheaper - after we purchase more miles!
So I ask what would you do? What do you normally do with your points?
We are going this October (already booked)
May 2020, November 2020 (honeymoon) and Oct or Nov 2021 for mum's 60th and with family! What would you do! TIA x

I could never use them in school holidays and lost tens of thousands (own fault). I'm building up some more now but far from hopeful.

Recieved 1x free flight (tax to pay) and 1x free companion flight (tax to pay)

Recieved 27000 points from getting a new virgin atlantic card and buying a £20k car with it.

I had 26,000 points previously. Can I use those points to upgrade both fights to premium on the way back

Buying miles is basically never worth it unless you're only short a couple of thousand when you want to book. Save your miles for a later flight. Get a virgin airmiles credit card and start earning that way. Convert tesco clubcard points too if you shop there. Use shopsaway via flying club online to do online shopping.

I've flown 3 times in 5 years to florida, all of them by reward flights. Just a matter of saving miles between each one.

Reward flights entirely come down to if there is availability. Yes, you can use airmiles to upgrade. Whether you'll be able to will depend on if they release reward flights. you need to be looking for them every day. I found for each of my last 3 flights we got reward flights about a week after initial release but it is potluck.

I use them for premium and upper redemptions. Only time I use them for economy now is summer hols or xmas time and then I will hope for at least premium on the way back.
So if I was you I’d save them up for an upper flight. There used to be good value in economy reward flights to Vegas but like all of the US flights, prices have come down loads for off peak in cash(I’m talking economy classic). I wouldn't pay more than £400 for economy classic off peak.
