Express pass Universal worth it?

We went to Universal and IOA on our last visit in May 2014 and we paid for express as we were only going to each park once and at that stage never expected we'd be able to go back to the US.

Fast forward to next week and we leave for the US and I feel incredibly blessed.

We both really feel we got our monies worth from the express last time but not sure for when we go?

i've also heard that US sometimes throttle the throughput on rides deliberately to increase the purchases of express.

You can do all the rides without Express passes after 5pm even the Harry Potter experiences.

We had Express passes last week and the queues were just as long on some rides as the standard lines!

Dr Doom, The Mummy, Rip Rocket are all doable without Express Passes. Minions, all water rides need Express passes. Kong needs Express Pass too although this ride is a big disappointment

I wouldn't bother. We did everything easily. Kong is the only one that was a long wait and it isn't really good anyway.

Have you checked the hotels to see if there are any deals to be had for a night with unlimited express?

We've loved having the express passes, it's meant we have been able to go on lots of rides. Minions Shrek, transformers and all the HP rides all have had between 45 - 100 min waits this week.

And remember 1 night in the hotels get you 2 days of unlimited express pass. If there's 3 or more of you might even work out cheaper. Only the deluxe hotels do these though.
