Great post. We were also in the park for rope drop on the same day although we were slightly later (Dinosaur 33
 ).Incidentally from there it is about a 6-7 min walk. We just missed the tram so walked. The next tram arrived while we were walking but was still stationary at Dinosaur by the time we reached security. So beware of wasting time waiting on the tram. We made it to the turnstiles by 8.15... so a bit behind the OP, and were 15 mins later than OP (but that was probably partly due to an injudicious toilet stop after the turnstiles), reaching the ride standby entrance at 9am (which read 180 mins). But we were on and off the ride by 9.25 and in the shop. So seems like getting to the turnstile by 8.10 (on a non EMH day) gives a good chance of being on the ride within an hour or so. Although I should point out that AK was "most recommended" according to the busy day guide so that is probably also relevant to the length of turnstile queues. Well worth it. In a different league!

That's our plan for our first morning, making the most of the jet lag. Sounds great. We love soaring so really looking forward to it. Got my DD to watch the film last week as she hadn't seen it when it came out ( she's 12 now).

It's great to read your experience but as someone who's staying offsite and has tried everyday to book this ride at 30 days out the thought of getting up and being there at the times you've mentioned just fills me with dread on a holiday.
It's just a ride and there's no doubting I REALLY want to go on it but it's just not a level playing field between offsite and onsite guests when it comes to booking rides but I guess that's how Disney want it lol |
