Had this with BA. They said I couldn't check in online when travelling with an infant.

Happened to me multiple times. Usually when we are travelling with our daughter. So I our case I assume it's just because we are travelling with a minor. Always been fine, and nothing even mentioned when we got to the airport.

I must admit, I wish they could add a little more information as too why as it can be quite a shock the first time it appears and you then have to wait until the airport to find out that there isn't a problem.

To be honest, if you have your seats already, I've never really understood the advantage of checking online for trans-Atlantic flights, as you have to effectively do it anyway when you drop your bags off. Maybe saves a few moments I suppose.

Hi this happened to me yesterday as I was selected for secondary security checks. I didn’t nothice anything different until I got to the gate and then I had to take my electronics out for a swab for explosives and got a grope from the security lady. All friendly and fine but they seem to have upped the number of people it is happening to so there was a queue.

Also got the same at MCO where once I got through immigration I got taken away to a little room where they did additional checks. This was more scary as they just don’t tell you why they want you to go with them. Took 5 mins but a little more communication would have helped.

Waiting for the bags was the worst part of all this as immigration was empty and so was vs15.

Means nothing... I got the same when I checked us in on-line late October. Just meant I showed my passport at the airport and no problems or delays.

Just as a note... we did the $10 a head Disney Springs drop-off for the return leg. GREAT! Easy to do, and we got TSA Pre-Check so at MCO we went into the TSA Pre-check queue ( 4 people! ) and were through in 4 minutes. The 'normal' immigration queue was around 40 minutes. Not sure if this is a perk of the DS drop-off, if so, a real benefit and time saver!

I had the dreaded SSSS coming out LGW to MCO last week.
However, The extra check at the gate only took about 5 minutes.
I’m just wondering if I will get it on the return to Gatwick. Then I will know it wasn’t random and I am on a list.

My DH has this and can't check in online with Virgin. The rest of us can check in online but are there any issues in the rest of us checking in online and us all then having to go to the check in desk with him rather than bag drop?

Happened to me last week. No problem checking in but stopped when boarding and had my bags and hands swabbed while getting on.

It worries me that people who seem to nurture the impression they know it all, mock these additional security checks based on minimal personal experiences.

I am more than happy for them to institute whatever measures they see fit and trust the professionals to do their job. They are keeping us all safe don't forget.

Yes, that happened to me. DH was carrying both cabin bags. I was pulled over, given my passport back and shown the exit.
