True !

On Virgin Holidays site, when booking for room/tickets/free dining rather than package with flights, the prices for the dates I checked were a lot less than the Disney site.

Might be worth looking on there?

2 weeks at POR on Virgin site worked out the same price as 2 weeks at CBR on the Disney site.

Only thing is the deposit is £175pp rather than £50pp and I'm not sure whether that includes $200 gift card.
😬

Yes but I wouldn't have booked yesterday.

The point is, that yesterday, if QSDP was free and the deal was on then, I'd have paid a total of £3,708.56 for what today is £4,006, thus, the base price of the hotel room is £300 more than it was yesterday. So the "free" dining is actually £300, not free, due to room rate rises

Is it roughly the cost of the new parking rates that all our prices have jumped up by?

No, you just said it yourself lol The Base price for the room has gone up. The dining is still free, but Disney have increased the base cost of the room (or removed a previously discounted promotion on tickets). They raise the base cost of the room almost every year I would imagine at some point. This time they have done it at the same time as free dining has come out.

It's like when the promotion changes to go down to $100 gift card. It would be a stretch to turn around and say "Disney have just put their prices up by $100" because you are now no longer getting a promotion.

I will side with what many others have said here. This is the 14th time in 9 years we have gone and this is the first time there has been a premium for free dining time.
What I would say though is shop around and you will get it a good deal cheaper than the dis website. This also does not happen much.

Looks like an overall increase on the rack rate between 10 and 20% depending on resort

Do you think they have accounted for the sites like Quidco etc in their prices along with the credit card change. They must have to pay out on them a 4 percent discount is quite a hefty chunk
I have booked with Charter today they were almost 900 less than Disney for my dates

I just did this for our dates and 14 night at Pofq in June with upgraded ddp and park tickets for 2ad and 2ch is working out at £1500 more than what I’ve paid direct with Disney. I’ve never ever had a competitive quote from VH.
