Mobile Virgin special assistance

DH has ankylosing spondilitis and colitis and now finds it increasingly difficult to stand up for long periods but sitting too long isn't great either and needs to be able to get to the loo in a hurry as well
What sort of assistance is available ?
I am worried about him standing in long boarding and immigration lines but I know he won't accept a wheelchair as walking isn't the issue (yet) .early boarding is not good either as it means sotting even longer.
Should I ring virgin ?we are going to JFK and home from Boston Is there anything they can do ? Think this will be our last long haul as his as is getting worse

Usually with a significant medical condition, you will be permitted to board Ďup frontí with special assistance and families with small children etc which means no significant waiting in line.
He will probably be eligible for a hidden disabilities lanyard which will mean minimal queueing at immigration in both Orlando and on your return. These can be obtained from the special assistance desk at Manchester or Gatwick.

Edit, just read post properly, canít speak for JFK or Logan, but the lanyards are recognised at more and more airports, and should be available at LHR if that is your departure airport!

We flew with Virgin last year and my mum has something similar so she finds it very painful to sit for long periods. They pre-arranged a Burnett Body Support for her during the flight, it did help to ease the pain in her spine but the onboard crew weren't well trained in installing it, they had to call engineers out on the outbound flight to work it out

Here's a link to the page with the info and you should be able to find out more on google. It's easily removed(!) during the flight if not suitable or can be adjusted.

Also Heathrow have the disability lanyards and you can request in advance via their website.
