12 seater & driving licence
Hi all
Does anyone know if you can drive a 12 seater minivan in Florida on a standard category b (cars only) uk licence? I have been driving since 1997 and need to hire a vehicle of this size for our trip next May. Any advice would be appreciated. Don't particularly want to have to take a minibus test! Thanks |

Yes you can drive without the D1 category. However there is one company that doesn't allow it and as I'm out here and on the iPad it's hard to research so you need to wait for more replies!

Might be Hertz...they don't feature on ushirecar which claim all their offers are fine on a normal license in their FAQ.

We've not been able to get a quote for next May yet but looking at this May for a guide price looks to be around £750-800 for the 2 weeks hire with all the relevant insurances, taxes and full tank of fuel.

Sixt require the driver to have D1 on their licence. Only one I'm aware of who mention the restriction.
