Amsterdam to MCO direct in business for £1,040!

Hi,

This was posted on transport thread but thought it might help someone.

Just booked for July 6th-28th on Air France but Delta direct flights in business return for £1,040 each. Quite a few dates available? Found on skyskanner but apparently there is an article on one of the airmile websites (see transport section for Warkman58's post).

We live in Norwich so it's actually quicker to fly to Amsterdam then drive to Gatwick or Heathrow for us! No hotel or car parking needed as 10 mins from the airport! Even given the cost of KLM flight to Amsterdam from Norwich airport!

Even better I managed to get 2 reward seats on the same plane for me and dd (flying out earlier!) So we can all fly home together! Virgin Air miles 50,000 each plus $5.60 taxes! Flying Delta I'm so pleased with myself this morning

I used my virgin airmiles in my flying club account to book the return flights for myself and dd as I'm flying out rewards with Air Canada. Delta flights are bookable via virgin as they are part owned by Delta now.

Every airline has a rewards programme KLM and Delta both do. Every flight you take you will earn airmiles, which vary according to the class of travel and type of ticket. You can use these airmiles to book award flights when you have enough and the award flights are available? Hope that's what you meant?

All positive, but there is some risk you're not mentioning in that I imagine you are giving yourself a fair bit of contingency, as if anything goes wrong with Norwich -> Amsterdam then could miss your Orlando flight and have no comeback as you've booked on separate tickets.

Similarly coming home, you may well be sitting around Amsterdam airport for a while when tired etc, as you've probably given yourself a bit of time to allow for any reasonable delay coming back from Orlando.

Nice deal, well done. Amsterdam looks like a cheap start point for the summer. AA is also selling returns to MCO from AMS for EUR 1200 in business class.

On the way out there would be a stop in PHL in addition to positioning to AMS, but on the return you could book MCO-LGW//LHR-AMS and mysteriously manage to miss the last leg. Useful for those in the London area, only requires a positioning flight at one end.

Would love to have booked a through ticket from Norwich but unfortunately that brought the same ticket up to £5,500 . It's ridiculous really. Norwich airport is badly run and could be used so much better as a KLM hub. But that is a whole other story

Dh often uses it on business in fact he's off to Dubai tomorrow via Amsterdam but as you say it's always a risk! There are 2 flights that get us into Amsterdam to connect. I've booked them on the 1st one out in the hope that if anything happens they still have another chance to get there. We usually fly via Dublin so used to the gamble! Coming home we have 3 1/2 hours, so a meal and a lounge, preferable to 3 1/2 hours driving home knackered from Gatwick or Heathrow !
