We were preparing for this on our flight out last week, we had a carry on case crammed FULL of sweets, biscuits etc.

We advised the officer and asked if we could just open up the case to avoid unpacking everything, he told us to keep it in and closed as they’ll pull it for searching anyway and it’ll save us a job.

It didn’t get pulled.

Who knows?

this is what i was told then had to put my samsung tablet through again and one guy shouted at another to make passengers take them out!

We have had mixed experiences of this , LAX in march didnt take any consumables out , Charlotte in May left all food in the cases but individually swabbed all of the babies bottles ..

Miami this month was fine again , yet Charlotte last week didn’t ask for consumables to be removed yet stopped and searched every bag that went through the scanners with food in. Would have been far quicker to just ask people to remove all food items . Babies bottles also had to be individually scanned and a couple swabbed

There is no consistency.

I fly out of Charlotte airport 3 times a year , for as long as i can remember its been leave everything in the bags ..

Last week we had the rudest security officer ever , made everyonne remove all gadgets and shoes , then we went to remove the babies shoes and he screamed at us over 12’s only 🤷

Yes i was watching and the other queues were letting people leave shoes on and gadgets in bags.

One big change we noticed this trip , the pushchair had to be folded up and put through the scanner at Heathrow, Miami and Charlotte airports . All other trips we have been able to push it through where wheelchairs go .

Never happened to us a few weeks ago from MCO, infact most of the items we were told to leave in the bags, mind you it was busy, but they should still have and stick too standard procedures regardless.

Pre receiving TSA Pre✓, upon US departure all our consumables were ready to place in a tray. Nov arrival, post immigration; was a first to hear Atl/any Security demand all consumables be placed in a tray.

First experienced this in Chicago last year. OH travels to Washington D.C regularly with work and has to take food out 50% of the time. Seems to depend to depend on how busy security is at the time.
