Side effects that severe shouldn’t be tolerated.
Personally I’d be asking my GP for a review and possible change to different anti-Ds. There’s a vast range, acting in different ways and in different combinations. They should improve & enhance life, not subdue or make it worse. Some anti depressants were actually developed to target pain and just happen to ‘hit’ parts of the brain where some people hold their depression. Very lucky if that happens with the first meds prescribed. My GP and consultant tried several types, doses & combos before we found the right one for me. Took well over a year. Have you thought about relaxation techniques for yourself ? Our council-run leisure centre runs Pilates, gentle stretching and aquarobics classes very reasonable prices. I do/have tried lots and found a few that really help my mood plus it’s nice to meet different people for an hour or so. Health worries are bad enough but when coupled with money worries and the anxieties you feel about your children, you need to be very careful not to get overwhelmed. Linda xx |

Hi Snowball24,
Sorry to read about your dh and the effect its having on you both. Just thinking would your husbands self employment insurance not pay for medical care/sick leave. |

I had to go privately for consultations, MRI and pain relief injections last year. I asked when the consultant saw me if he could refer me to the NHS waiting list and he said no, it come out of the gp's pot of money? Perhaps just my area. Privately the op was £7000. The treatment etc I had privately cost £2500. I haven't had the op and recently I was offered it on the NHS. The waiting list is 4 months for minor spinal surgery here.
I phoned our local Bupa and had a chat. You'd also need to find out which consultant specialises in that area. I don't suffer with depression but not being able to walk etc certainly made things worse. More than a few nights I went to bed crying partly due to the pain but also becauseI felt I couldn't get any help. I hope he gets the treatment he needs soon. Edited at 08:21 AM. |

Snowball ,
I know this won’t be at the forefront of your mind at the moment but if your husband remains self employed please please take out self employed insurance, the consequences and subsequent costs to him if something goes wrong whilst on a job could be absolutely bankrupting. I hope he gets up and about soon. Good luck |

Excellent, you can now start to get somewhere before Christmas.
It just shows that it can pay to be more “assertive” with this sort of thing whilst being polite and pleasant too obviously. Try to relax a bit this weekend, you’ve done as much as you can for now and should be pleased with yourself. Linda x |
