silicone a window surround

a couple of our windows have a bit of gap round them & need a run of silicone* round them especially this winter time its getting draughty

so how do you finish it? run a bead then run my finger along ? or some tool... had a google and theres alot of different methods

over to you dibb tradesmen / diy ers

* or do i use caulk?

Silicone if you don’t intend to paint it, caulk if you do. Smooth it with a wet finger (different finger sizes for different jobs! )

Don't use caulk, but decent window frame sealant. I always neatly run some masking tape along the window and wall/shelf, and take your time to do this neatly, then I put the sealant on and run my finger along and then remove the tape. I then run my finger along the sealant, and if you haven't over done it with the sealant it should look neat.

ive got some frog tape as just been decorating so will do this
