Stayed at both and loved both.never had a problem with mossies at akl and I used the balcony multiple times each day.
Akl rooms where better and the hotel is spectacular, never got tired of watching the animals.we got stuck in the hotel for a couple of days because of hurricane irma but it was so nice it didn’t really bother me and the staff where fantastic.
Por has better grounds in my opinion and the food court is a lot better than the Mara at akl.the boat to Disney springs is lovely.
Akl is further from the parks but the extra few minutes on the Disney buses never really bothered me.
Both resorts have pluses and minuses but you can’t go wrong with either.
If I could stay at either of these again I’d stay at por.

We love POFQ but notice you have a baby in your photo. In view of this I would choose AKL for the balcony so you can sit out there whilst your child is sleeping if necessary.
For adults I would choose PO as the position is closer to 3 parks and DS

The zero entry pool at AKL would be lovely for your baby (plus the balcony for you).

I would choose AKL because I would choose deluxe over moderate for bigger rooms, dining plan and I like the theming and restaurants at AKL. However I am not too bothered about balcony, animals or pools.

The pool at AKL is nothing special and I'd actually say POR wins there.

POR boat is lovely over to springs so another plus.

AKL we found we hardly used our balcony and they're not the biggest.

Personally I'd opt for POR especially if it's cheaper. The only thing that would sway AKL for me is if it included the full free dining plan
Thanks for the reply

Which pool did you use at POR & how was it better? I am wondering how much we will really use the balcony, do any of us really spend that much time in our rooms?

We will have to upgrade to DDP if we decide to stay at PO so will only save about £400.

Are there no zero entry pools at PO?

I think the only non Deluxe with a zero entry pool is CBR

In relation to AKL and the distance to parks, in reality you're talking a matter of 4/5 minutes.

eg (all by Disney Bus)
AKL - MK 21m
POFQ - MK 17m
POP - MK 22m

AKL-HS 19m
POFQ-HS 18m
POP-HS 15m

I love to have a balcony but find it’s rare in Florida hotels. So I voted for AKL with the balcony.

I voted other because for me whichever is the cheapest . You just do not spend enough time In the room , or at least we don’t so I would rather have money to spend on food or experiences .
