I think it’s because I haven’t been for a couple of years so there’s so many new things to try. Don’t worry, I’ve booked an extra plane seat in case I’m successful

So today was pre travel day and my travel down to Gatwick was uneventful. I only had a Costa on the way as I didn’t feel up to eating much - too excited maybe.

I was able to check in early at Bloc hotel and was pleased to find I had been upgraded to a runway view - it’s a lovely room. Perfect for solo travellers and a bonus as I’d only paid for a standard. I was so excited and felt the holiday was off to such a positive start.

After the sheer terror that was twilight check in (separate thread in trip planning) I felt exhausted and just went with the nearest restaurant which was Wetherspoon’s The Beehive.

It was so busy and loud. I was surprised as I thought with it being in arrivals it would be fairly quiet. I had mobile ordering here so this was quick and avoided having to catch someone’s attention as you seat yourself.

I ordered the BBQ Chicken Panini (bbq sauce, chicken, bacon and cheddar cheese) I upgraded to loaded fries with cheese and bacon. Then ordered a much needed rosè wine.

It arrived and I was floored - the portions were huge and I felt like I had arrived in Orlando early. It was so big they arrived on separate plates.

The loaded fries were actually chips and came with a sour cream dip. These were lovely. The bacon was crispy and the chips so fresh.. I loved these.

The panini was another story, it was perfectly ok. But that’s it. Just okay. It would fill a gap but the bbq sauce left a lot to be desired. It tasted mostly of tomato.. there was no depth of flavour and no tang.

I headed to m&s to find these - intrigued by the Christmas one! Will let you know how I get on

And not to be forgotten.. it’s ‘Goldia’s Christmas Corner’

It’s official folks.. it’s not just Disney starting early:

Hope you sleep well tonight, the view of the runway looks fab. What a great meal at Wetherspoons. The Christmas G&T sounds yummy! And I love the first tree. I saw a Tim Tracker vlog today where they were at the GF for dinner and then they looked at the Christmas decorations. They also went over to Wilderness Lodge and that tree looked beautiful, I hope you have a wonderful time there.

Safe flight tomorrow x
