Everything's so salty!

Thinking about a trip for 2020. Starting with dining ideas first.
Last time we ate at a bunch of places, but everything was so salty! Dh complained every day. He has been reducing his salt intake for health reasons and, although it's counter intuitive, we'd still like to eat at restaurants a few times on the next trip. (Will likely stay in a villa and self-cater.)

Which places/dishes should we consider if we want less salt? Interested in both quick service and table service.

This is quite a problem in my experience.

Broccoli (or Brockley as they call it) seems to be one of those things that they over-salt regularly.

The WHO have guidelines and recommendations and that define “high” sodium intake as anything greater than 2g. This equates to ~5g of salt

Red Lobster are a little heavy with the salt cellar. One particularly insane dish is the Admiral’s Feast which contains 5g of sodium!

Not sure for QS, but I"m pretty sure that you can ask your waiter at TS restaurants to have less or no salt in your dishes.

Yes. Dh did that with a steak at BOG. It came out salty anyway.

Longhorns was the worst for us, the food was so salty it was inedible

I agree they use a lot of salt, I can see the difference in my face from day 1 to day 19 of the dining plan on my honeymoon, I look so bloated

Yes we found this too. Most of time we just asked for no salt on anything. Most of the time we had a very shocked look from the server.
Wasn’t as bad this year as we ate off site as only did universal.

We found on our trip just gone, the saltiest place was Olive Garden.

We loved the bread sticks but they were saturated in salt!

We found everything salty and I hate salt! My hubby and eldest love salt but found it too much. They also said they found chicken sweet.

I am American and maintain a low sodium diet. My solution is to NEVER, EVER eat in a chain restaurant. Almost every entree has over the recommended daily allowance for sodium in that one meal.

Many places have nutritional information on line and I check and see if there are any acceptable options. (I try to stay under 1500 mg/day). I can usually find something at Panera. I also will order a salad without a protein and dressing on the side and have asked for no added sodium. I don't think most chain restaurants can do that because they don't have chefs cooking meals but a cook who follows company recipes.

While expensive, Disney is great at adapting to dietary needs.

Quite honestly, if you have a place with kitchen facilities, you can easily make a quick meal-100% healthier at a small fraction of the price.

Although they made not be available in all stores, Whole Foods makes a roasted chicken with no seasoning (including salt.) Pick up some salad from the salad bar and you have a quick, easy and healthier dinner.
