Just include it in with the price of the fare then compare against those that don’t charge, if it’s still cheaper overall it makes sense to stick with BA, as the one that doesn’t charge is not really ‘free’ when the overall price is more...

Were you talking about using your Avios to upgrade into a higher or perhaps an exit row seat cabin or using them to replace paying for a standard seat. Your first post #4 about this didn't mention upgrade.

Thanks everyone, ended up paying £89 (Business class ) Free seat reservation for disabled MIL still chaeaper than Virgin.
