Wot no Disney - Well just a smidgeon - July 2018 mainly offsite trip report - Day 4

Wot no Disney - Well just a smidgeon - July 2018 mainly offsite trip report

The index is here

Day 4
Friday 6th July – Rest and Recharge (and a tiny bit shopping)

No park action today. A clear day so far though so the pool was the plan.

Finally Ds got some quality pool time. We started off with Krispy Kreme donuts in the room and then headed to the pool when it opened at 8.

Ds and Dh had a strawberry and cream frappacino which was still on offer at $1.75 and I had a no sugar vanilla latte which was also on offer at $2.50. We also had juice from the room and we shared a piece of apple cake which was lovely and had some m&ms. (healthy choices again )

We spent a couple of hours at the pool, it was a bit overcast but still warm. The pool was pretty quiet. There must have been a conference with acapella singing groups as I few were out practising and warming up outside the conference rooms on the balconies, I was fascinated, and it was pretty nice to listen to. They were all really good.

We caught the I-trolley and headed up International Drive to do a little shopping and started off at the Nike Clearance store on Idrive, this place was great for ds, he got loads of bargains in bigger sizes.

We then headed for Hash House a Go Go, I’d bought a voucher on TravelZoo for $29 that gave you a $50 credit.

Ds and dh were delighted that we were sat in the bar as the football was on. Ds and I had a Diet Pepsi and dh had a strawberry lemonade.

Ds had the kids cheese quesadillas served with fruit which he enjoyed.

I had the Kokomo sandwich which was meatloaf with roasted tomatoes and cheese, it was really good as were the crispy fries. Ds helped me out. The portions here are absolutely massive!

Dh had the fried chicken steak which was served with sausage gravy and mash. He enjoyed it but couldn’t finish it.

The football was getting exciting and we knew we had not spent our $50 so Dh ordered a beer while Ds and I had drinks refills.

We left a tip as our bill was technically zero. We really enjoyed our lunch, I’d look for the voucher offer again and happily go back.

We waited a little bit as the heavens had opened and it was crazy outside, the rain was bouncing, my Accuweather App was spot on with it’s prediction of when the rain would ease. We ordered an uber to the outlets at the top of I-drive which was$6.

We were ages shopping again and were pretty happy with our purchases although no Dooney and Bourkes in the outlet this time. Bath and Body Works, Fossil sunglasses and jewellery, some Tommy tops for Ds and a North Face Jacket for me.

Ds was shattered again by the time we got back to the room and did not want to venture anywhere. We decided to just stay in the hotel and went to the poolside bar.

Nobody was overly hungry so we ordered nachos and calamari to share. Ds had a sprite, Dh an angry orchard and I had a moitjo. It did the job and was all quite nice.

The relaxing time was great. The TravelZoo voucher made lunch really reasonable.

It was needed. Plus the weather was rubbish so it wouldn't have been the best park day.

I love Krispy Kremes, wish I could have them for breakfast more but my waistline would suffer too much.

You can’t beat a shopping/pool day. Good to see you got some bargains- I miss Bath and Body Works.

I love that the plate of nachos are bigger than a persons head!

Bath and Body Works 😢. I’ve been ordering the foaming hand soaps here but they are so much more expensive, I don’t want to give them up! Dh was like, oh we won’t have much luggage in February - it’s like he’s forgotten about my compulsion to buy foaming soaps and M&Ms.

Imagine the shopping for you in New York! Have you been before? I’d love to go.

The size of a persons head is how you rate a good dinner. We’ve just had a pizza place open round the corner and the slices are the size of a persons head, Ds is beside himself ( the pizza is also really good).

Sounds like a great rest day although I always feel a bit shattered after the shopping as the hours seem to evaporate so quickly when we get to the outlets

Absolutely agree. We are just nipping to the outlets for an hour or so and then 4 hours later you are still there.

It’s like that bit in Percy Jackson in the casino where they eat the lotus flowers and there are people who’ve been there since the 70s. 😂
