Virgin standalone car hire shot up as well.

I have car hire provisionally booked for next August no deposit but I’ve been keeping an eye on Virgin standalone car hire which is very good. The price has always been about £100 cheaper than what I have but don’t want to fork out full price yet. Checked yesterday and still the same, this morning July and August has no cars available. Checking for June, the price has more than doubled.

Virgin seemed to be the one car hire that the price hadn’t crazy. It has now

Still have my deposit only booking still thankfully. Hoping by next year it corrects itself!

We booked car hire with Virgin for our now cancelled July 28th holiday.
Three weeks rental cost £702 which is paid in full.
Almost 3 times our price when I got this screenshot on 10th June Yikes!

Saw that costs went up as we’ll for my dates in Feb/March. Car hire prices seem to have gone up in the last day or two again. Sixt prices for many cars increased yesterday by up to 50%

I called this morning to see if I could change our dates. The CS agent said yes we can but will have to pay any additional costs if they happened - that's a laugh, they're already almost 3 times the price I paid
I'm absolutely certain that the terms and conditions stated no additional costs... but Hey! I tend to get things confused sometimes
But she did say we can cancel and get a refund. I'm waiting to see what DH says when he gets home from work; I suspect he will say cancel.

Edit to say: We hired our car through Virgin Holidays.
