Sea fishing not too far from Orlando, is this a thing?
For our third trip to Florida we'd like to try a few different things and DH would love to do some fishing out there.
Anyone done this?

Only sea fishing we have done is in Clearwater off the pier, we have done this several times. My son and brother fish all the time sea and coarse and they really enjoy fishing off the pier.

I booked my husband on a deep sea fishing trip in Clearwater. It was a half day if I remember. They caught loads of Spanish mackerel which they gutted and filleted where they docked and one if the restaurants cooked it for us. It was so nice!

We fish several times each time we visit Florida.
There are some great places to try... firstly, my favourite place on earth is Fort DeSoto. They have two fishing piers at this location, the gulf pier and the bay pier. Great fishing with no need for a fishing licence and the added bonus of beautiful beaches, walks, kayaking etc. Secondly, I would recommend the Sunshine Skyway Fishing Piers. I prefer the South Side. You pay around 4 dollars per person to access the piers and this covers the fishing and licence costs. Both these locations are about 90 minutes drive from Orlando but we’ll worth the journey. We normally combine these journeys with a trip to Ellenton Mall to keep everyone happy. Plenty of videos on YouTube to look at these places. If you want any more info, please do not hesitate to DM me. |

Not done myself but did a bit of digging a year or two ago on spot booking trips from Clearwater.
This lot came out highly recommended. queenfleet/ Plan was to go down to Clearwater for the beach for day. Ladies go dolphin spotting, lads go fishing (split down interest not gender lines), evening on beach and back next day via Busch gardens. Ended up all doing dolphins as Buccs were playing so went there instead. But it was the original plan. Edited at 01:38 AM. |
