Trains from Nottingham to Southampton problem
Hi. I've been trying to book train tickets online from Nottingham to Southampton for 10th October and returning 18th.
The problem is that all the train sites are showing August and September as sold out for everything. Does this seem right? Up until July seems okay. I would have thought that September would be available. If its true, then we may have to cancel our Staycation cruise because there is no other way to get there. |

It’s a bit early for October tickets yet - you can probably get full price from the train line as Welsh dragon said but EMR wait until about 12 weeks before to put them up! I am waiting for late September dates so keep checking

Thanks for the quick replies. I should have mentioned, there were some trains for the 10th and the 18th, but they go through London and we would have to change twice.
The trains we need only change once, at Birmingham New Street. These are the ones that are showing as sold out or "Timetable unavailable" I waited until yesterday, because that would make it within the 12 weeks. Do you think maybe there is something wrong with the online timetable? |

I think this is a crosscounty trains route.
If you go their own site, you can only book as far out as end September. So perhaps not for sale yet. Incidentally the trains in September that are only one stop appear to be sold out so I think you'll have to be quick |

Thanks for the help. Thats what I've found. I think I may go to Nottingham Station tomorrow and see if I can get anything sorted.
I'm just surprised that trains are available for July but sold out for August and September. Thats why I thought there was a mistake with the timetables. |

I think you are too early - not all routes appear until about three months before - 12 weeks is mentioned above which sounds right.
If they are able to book it may be more expensive and with less routes than waiting a few more weeks.

If not train, is there a national express route that would suit?

Thanks for your help. I've looked at the coach as a last resort, but it takes about 7 hours, and still have to change. There doesn't seem to be any direct routes.
Considering that Southampton is the biggest cruise port in the UK, I'm really surprised that it is so difficult to get to from Nottingham. |
