I suspect it isn't going to end as yet. I'm dreading the reintroduction of Fast Pass and what they will do there.
The DIS unplugged from this week was interesting with Pete's take on this. Essentially COVID was a good excuse for them to push forward what they have been wanting to do for years. Disney have been worried that there are too many people in the parks, this sounds crazy but lots of unhappy people will buy less and spend less times in the park than less very happy rich people. Disney has lost billions through all of this so it was always going to be tightening of the belts but now they seem to just be more obvious than they ever have before.

Yes, the extended evening hours will only be available to guests staying at deluxe resorts once Disney rolls this out (extended hours aren't a thing at the moment). I would guess this is an incentive to get people to pay a bit more to stay at a deluxe resort rather than a moderate.
And it's probably going to end once it starts having a significant effect on visitor numbers. If Disney gets rid of something and visitor numbers drop by a lot directly because of that, then Disney may rethink things. But whilst there are still millions of people willing to pay the price to visit the parks and stay onsite then Disney will still look into ways to reduce costs and/or make more profit.
