Disney Magic 7 day Eastern Caribbean DAY 2

Sunday September 27th 2009

Day at sea.

We got up around 8am and went for some breakfast at Topsiders, there was the usual huge selection of just about everything you could eat for breakfast, cereal, pastries, cooked breakfasts, omelettes, fresh meats, fruit, doughnuts, we both had an omelette and picked at a few other bits and then made our way to Rockin bar D for the future cruise presentation.

The DCL guide Jocelyn went through the upcoming Meditarranean cruises in 2010 and the 2011 Alaskan and Mexican Rivieria cruises as well as the Transatlantic crossing and the Panama Canal crossing.
We had originally planned to book the 2010 Westbound transatlantic but decided on the Panama Canal instead as with the new ships coming and the Wonder being homed on the west coast for the forseeable future this cruise looked a bit more of a one off for the near future.
The 2011 cruises weren't available for the general public to book until tomorrow morning but we were able to fill a request form out and Jocelyn would book the cruise as soon as it became available in the morning and we could sort out deposits etc later on.

After the presentation we spent a bit of time on deck and on the verandah before making our way to Studio sea for the Disney vacation club presentation.

We filled our card in for the chance to win $300 onboard credit just for attending (we didn't win but the lady next to us did) and waited a few minutes for them to start.
The guides went through how DVC works and the current costs and discounts (there are special offers to be had while on the ship) they also told us that the price per point was going up the weekend we got off the ship.
The offers included a cash discount and then a choice of a free 3,4 or 7 day cruise for x amount of people or a weeks stay at the new DVC resort that is being built in Hawaii, the free cruises etc were all dependant on the amout of points you bought, for the minimum 160 points it was a free 3 day cruise for 4 people.
Instead of the free cruise or stay you could opt for an additional cash discount which to be honest worked out more than what the cruise would have cost.
We made an appointment to meet with one of the guides and left for some lunch.

Lunch was another huge buffet at Topsiders, we then spent the next couple of hours on deck with a couple of drinks before going to meet the DVC guide.

We were interested in 160 points with Bay Lake Tower as the home resort, we had a chat with Branden and with all the discounts the price came down to $96 per point (I've seen a couple of resale contracts for BLT at $100 a point, so quite a good deal direct from Disney). We arranged to get back to him in the morning after we'd had a talk between ourselves.

Next was the evening show the Golden Mickeys which was fantastic, featuring a whole host of Disney charaters and a special video appearance from Roy E Disney.

The Golden Mickeys:-

After the brilliant show we went and got changed for dinner, tonight was formal night and we were at Animators Palate so I put the suit on again.
We met our tablemates, Pierre and Melissa a French Canadian couple from Qubec city, Canada who we got on really well with. There was supposed to be another couple at the table but they never showed up the entire cruise. Our server Mikey from the Phillipines and assistant server Grace from Jamaica introduced themselves, they were both outstanding for the whole week.
I can't remember what we had for dinner but I know it was amazing (and filling)

After dinner we went and got changed and went to Rockin bar D for a couple of drinks and to watch the comedy singer (who was good) we left for bed not long after the Golden Mickeys after party started, sometime after 11.

Did I mention it was brilliant to be back onboard?

Apologies for the lack of pictures I didn't take anywhere near as many as I normally do.

Another great day. I get so excited thinking about the Panama Canal cruise, we've never done anything longer than a 4 night cruise, so it's going to be extra special. More lovely photos .. I wish there was a chance for photos with Elvis Stitch
