Wearing glasses at discovery cove!?
May be a silly question, but as I can't see more than 4ft in front of me without glasses or lenses, what can I do when in the water in discovery cove? I know it's dangerous to wear my lenses in water.

Myself and DH wear prescription goggles - they are fab. would definitely recommend getting these for water parks. I do swim once a week so do get vaue out of them (even if just for hols its worth it thats all DH uses them for).

You can also borrow (or could in 2014) prescription scuba-style goggles directly from Discovery Cove. We did this. You just need to remember what the general level of your prescription is. They are brilliant for swimming with.

Yes you can wear glasses. We were there two days ago and my friend wore her non prescription sunglasses all day. Including whilst swimming with the dolphins.

They let me wear my prescription sunnies swimming with the dolphins but they wouldn't let DH wear his prescription goggles. Not sure on the reasoning.
As said above you can borrow prescription scuba masks, however both DH and I find that our vision corrects somewhat under water. We both just use our easybreath masks to snorkel and even though he has really bad eyesight he's fine. |

Yes, you can borrow a mask free of charge. I didn’t know my prescription so they suggested looking at a clock on the wall and trying several on until I could see what time it was! (They also said if I didn’t return the mask they “would come for my first born”. Fair swap I thought!)

In 2014 I wore my normal prescription glasses for the dolphin swim, and used the prescription mask when swimming in the lazy river / lagoon (doing the same in 2016 and 2017).
For SeaVenture it was possible to wear my prescription glasses inside the SeaVenture helmet. Looking forward to doing it all without glasses next year! |
