Fantasmic - FP+ or dessert party?

Going in May and tying to decided whether to pay for the dessert party or just to FP Fantasmic. We're only likely to make it to one showing as kids will struggle with late nights and so I want to make sure we get reasonable seats for a good view. Not particularly worried about the desserts as we're on qsdp and so will have plenty of yummy snacks on plan. So...
Is the dessert party area much better than FP area?
And will it make much difference to how far in advance we will need to be there to get a decent view?

I wouldn’t FP or dessert party. I don’t like desserts and I would not want to tie my FPs up until the end of the day.

I think dinning package is the way to go.

Agree with Claudette and Will the Fantasmic Dining Package is the way to go.
FP would tie you down.
Dessert party is an expensive way to go.

I know what you mean about tying up the FP, but as we only have qsdp we would have to pay OOP for a dining package and so figured this would be more expensive than the dessert party - but haven't actually priced it up. Will do that now! Thanks

Cheapest one would be Mama Melrose Fantasmic lunch

Lunch/dinner – $43 adults; $18 children (plus tax and gratuity)

disneyworld.disney.go/en...ining-package/

Dessert Package is
$39 per adult
$19 per child (ages 3 to 9)

You get a good view anyway, wouldn’t worry.

In case anyone else is following this for same info, I have just found this on WDW website

Dessert Package - Adults $39, child $19
Mama Melrose lunch/dinner - Adults $43, child $18 +tax & gratuity
Hollywood & Vine Breakfast - Adults $49, child $29 +tax & gratuity
Hollywood & Vine lunch/dinner - Adults $62, child $36 +tax & gratuity
Hollywood Brown Derby lunch/dinner - Adults $63, child $22 +tax & gratuity

So if not using DDP, the dessert package is the cheapest option (though you don't get a sit down meal).

Thanks AliceCooper - I was busy researching when you posted so didn't see your helpful post until after I uploaded mine

Mama melrose with dessert package was brilliant. If not bothered about desserts for a few dollars extra I'd go for that over desserts as even with free QSDP it may be nice to have a sit down meal for a treat. The steak was awesome and our seats were brilliant with no waiting round queueing x
