Mako... please put my mind at rest!
Hi all
My son is 12 and wants to ride Mako but he is a very, very skinny 12 year old. I know Mako only has a lap bar and I’ve heard that you are lifted out of your seat during weightless moments, so I’m getting myself in a right state worrying about him falling out! Someone please tell me I’m being stupid! He is definitely tall enough to ride it but like I say he is very skinny and small boned. How old have your children been when riding Mako? Please reassure me it’s safe

No you could not slide out. The seats are bucket shaped and the lap restraints cover a large area. There is no way he could slide out as the gap is minimal. Love Mako. The best ride there.

We took my dd at 10. She was just over the height restriction and v skinny. Her and dh kept putting their hands up in the air, and with my hands on the bar i felt like i was moving in the seat, so kept fighting a losing battle trying to get her to hold on. Must be in the mind though as i didn't lose either of them. Have fun.

I've had my ten year old and 13 year old daughters on it several times this month and also October 17 when they were even younger. Then my youngest had to do her very best on tippy toes to get on past the height police. They are both very slim and at no point did they feel that they might fall out and I was having too much damn fun to even notice if they did. It is the best ride in Florida - go for it!

Take a look at my review and video. You can see the seat in one of the images.

Aahh Hayley, please don't worry. Now, I'm not a massive fan of Mako and I seriously had my eyes closed the whole way and was praying I would survive it. Meanwhile DD was 10 and having a ball! She is not a big girl, she was fine. I was the wreck! If the ride attendants didn't think he would be safe they wouldn'tlet him ride.

Please don't worry yourself, these rides are stringently tested and would not be allowed to operate if they were not safe.
Honestly try and relax, he'll be fine.

The restraint can clearly be seen in Simon's review.
It actually covers the tops of your thighs so there is no way you can fall out. Yes you do get some serious air time out of your seat but because of the seat design you are sloping backwards. Again you can see it in Simon's photo. I rode it with Ds2 who was 12 at the time and skinny. It is hands down our favourite ride in Orlando. We rode it several times including front row. You are very firmly held in place. It is a hard thing to describe but your bottom lifts up only a bit whilst your legs are held, your feet are flat on the floor. It is amazing.

Sorry to jump in but I have a very skinny 9 year old who is now tall enough to go on all rides in sea world, Busch gardens etc which are only parks we are doing this year. I am terrified of him falling out of the rides! Husband thinks I am being paranoid and they are all tested for safety but he is so so skinny !
