Our desktop crashed recently and we ended up buying a new one (not from the High Street) and the guy was able to recover Money for us. It was "empty" but as I back up to a hard drive every month I was able to recover all but a few transactions in minutes.

Joan can tell me how much we paid for the garage freezer in 2008 but the scariest thing of all is how much we've spent on holidays since 2000.

We also both check our banking apps at least twice a day.

I loved Microsoft Money, but sadly despite all dh work he couldn’t get it working on my Apple Mac so I’m back to pen and paper🥴 However he is hoping to retire soon and hopefully then he will take more interest in the finances and sort something out!

And to answer original question, yes I check everything. When we moved here our electricity shot up which seemed strange as nothing different to old house and I was fanatical until I had tracked it down! We then changed to Octopus as not only were they cheaper but I liked their system better. I read my oil gauge every week as well!

You can still download the final "sunset" version.
Love MS Money. Every transaction gets entered daily and checked against statements. DH really hasn't got a clue so it is also it is a record of where the bodies are buried so DS x 2 can hit the ground running and grab the bull by the horns when I pop my clogs

Another one for checking bank accounts daily as the dashboard makes it so easy to match actual against predicted or just using the banks app.
At 74 years old we're perfectly happy using MS Money and staying in the 90s but thanks for the tip. You might like to know that I gave up using an abacus a couple of years ago but your tech advice is always welcome. Keep it up

DH keeps track of all household utilities etc because he’s sat at his laptop all day with his work and finds it easy to hop onto websites etc.
We’re always switching electric and gas suppliers because he is on the ball for best deals (same for flights when we can)
I check all physical receipts, supermarkets etc and get pinged by my phone whenever there is a spend on my credit card, so I know if it’s me.
I check bank account weekly as well.
