How to keep food hot?
We are going to MIL for Xmas lunch this year, however I’ve offered to cook half of the Xmas lunch (veg, stuffing, pigs in blankets) and take it over so she hasn’t got to do it all herself. Has anyone got any suggestions of how to keep the food hot when we are driving to MIL’s as she lives about 25 mins from us.

I have wide neck food flasks that I use but other than that disposable foil Fontaine’s with lids wrap them in tinfoil and a insulated carrier like a cool box bag if I use our cool box I chuck a couple of kettles of boiling water in it first then tip it out to put the hot food in
Have no clue if that makes any difference or not |

Cook stuffing and pigs in blankets the day before and re-heat when you get there. Which veg? Might be easier to borrow a plug in hob and cook them there.

If I’m using food flasks for big I bring it to the boil and then tip,the lot into the flask so it continues to cook
You can buy insulated bento boxes on amazon they work as well |

What sort of veg? Roasted or boiled? We always re heat boiled veg in the microwave and it tastes perfectly fine (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots & swede ect).
What we are doing this year is, my mum is doing all of the boiled veg and bringing it over. Then the pigs in blankets, stuffing, Yorkshire’s, roast veg and roast potatoes I am doing at my house during the day (we have Christmas dinner about 5pm). |

I’m oven roasting the carrots, boiling broccoli, cabbage and peas and I pan fry sprouts with butter, chestnuts and bacon.
I think the peas I’ll cook there as they literally take 5 mins, I’ll reheat the cabbage and broccoli and just bung the stuffing and pigs and blankets back in the oven for 5 mins too. Thanks everyone |

Our oven isn't big enough to cook everthing, so when I have cooked the pigs in blankets and stuffing balls, I put in bowls and double wrap in foil then wrap in a teatowel, they are still really hot and hour later
