No baking required here Lesley! As you know my culinary disasters are legendary but this was easy

I love marzipan too. Shop bought Xmas cake doesn't have it thick enough for me. Maybe next year I will start baking my own Xmas cake again and can put a nice thick layer of marzipan on it, then ice it with some lovely crunchy royal icing !

I've read that posts on general chat don't count towards your ears (or don't count for as much) so try posting in other sections to see if that helps.
Yes, j have posted on the theme parks and tickets sections, but no gold ear yet. As my school teacher use to say, must try harder !

I’ve made one on a handful of occasions, but usually buy now. Usually get one from Sainsbury’s (with royal icing). This year they only seem to have the fondant version in-store, so have bought one from Tesco (sadly my nearest M&S is too far for just a cake). Have to say that the Tesco one looks very plain - not decorative at all, so will use my supply of xmas cake ornaments to make it look more cheerful.

I have been making my grandmother’s cake recipe for the last 20 years , the only year I didn’t was the year my beautiful mum passed . Mum and DH used to do a blind taste test as my grandmother still made her version for my mum , proud to say my one won several years running!
DH still brings a slice of cake to the Cemetry for mum every Christmas 🎄😘

I make my own, which most of it my parents get anyway. It’s not decorated yet, still feeding it with brandy

I make my own and my mum insists on making me one too. It lasts us until about November the following year.😂
