Ah yes of course.
But I’m sure if the police could’ve been bothered they could’ve found the driver stumbling along nearby if they didn’t take too long to arrive after they were called .

It’s been logged and the policeman is now contacting traffic to check the technicalities.
The policeman asked how OH knew he was drunk. Amongst other things, when OH asked him why he was in our driveway he said he was in the Spar car park 🤔
Does Spar even exist still? Haven’t seen one in years!
Spar certainly does still exist, ours is the hub of our community, you can get most things from there at a price

To the OP, what will you do when they return to collect the car?

Unfortunately unless they witness them in control of the car (or not as the case may be), despite it being absolutely obvious, they can’t do anything.

That so sad. I’m so sorry to hear that. I take a very dim view of it. As does OH which is why he insisted they left on foot.

As an aside, yes Spar still very much exists.
Apparently around 2500 of their stores in the U.K.

I will look out for it now!
We have a lot of Co-ops here.
The car is still here.
Did I say there are leaner plates on it too?
I haven’t been out yet but am working from home today so will position myself by the window.

Not true, if there were witnesses to identify the driver then that is sufficient.

If the police had to witness crimes then over 99% of criminals would get away with it.

I meant to say ‘someone’
The first we knew of it was the crash.
We didn’t see the car moving.
Keys in the ignition were witnessed which may be enough.

Fair enough, but even with the OP's hubby finding the driver sitting in the driver's seat (ideally with the engine running) would have been sufficient.

I'm unsure how the police confused the message of men who were drunk crashed onto someones drive. Once the men started walking off I would have updated the police by phone and keot them in sight from a distance. I have no mercy at all for drunk drivers they are the scum of the earth and many innocent people have been killed by them. Personally I think drunk drivers should get even a small prison sentence even if they haven't injured anyone.

The driver arrived at 8:29 ish and disappeared pretty quickly. Didn’t knock at all. I heard someone skulking around outside and he made a hasty retreat.
Got in through the passenger side too for some reason
