I had the Anapurna Zing cocktail too, but from Nomad Lounge not the restaurant. It looks like your meal was fab and you both enjoyed it.

We thought the Nomad Lounge looked good. I’m really glad I booked Tiffins although it felt like they’d toned down the menu a bit from when I first started looking at it - it was a good meal, though, which is all that really matters.

I also realised while looking through receipts tonight for the Tiffins cost (I didn’t find it unfortunately) that at some point in Animal Kingdom we spent a snack credit on a bottle of Diet Coke. I obviously felt it unworthy of a photo.

Day 7

This morning we got up and headed straight out for Epcot, where we had FPs for Spaceship Earth, Nemo and Test Track (originally a Soaring FP but I switched it after getting a 4th FP for Soaring earlier in the trip).

As we had time before our first FP, we headed to Sunshine Seasons and shared a breakfast platter and a bottle of water, for one QS credit.

The food was fresh if not particularly exciting, we actually had to briefly wait while they finished cooking the French toast!

We headed off to our first two FPs, had time for some Turtle Tall with Crush, and perused the Pandora charms in Mouse Gear before feeling a bit peckish again. We decided to head to the Mexico booth for Festival of the Holidays for a light lunch. As I mentioned on a previous day’s report, they only accepted snack credits not QS credits, so we spent two snack credits on an enchilada - chipotle chicken in a corn tortilla, topped with mole negro, Oaxaca cheese and sesame seeds - and a tamal - a corn tamal stuffed with shrimp topped with mole rojo and cotija cheese.

The tamal was ok and not exactly “stuffed” with shrimp - I had one piece of shrimp in my half. The enchilada, however was delicious. The chicken was flavoured well and the mole sauce rich and tasty. We could have eaten more of these (and still might) but were mindful of the fact we’re already starting to put on some holiday weight...! 😇

After that we headed for our Test Track FP, and then on the way out of the park i couldn’t resist some of Pandora park exclusive charms while DH was tempted by the cinnamon sugar on this croissant doughnut!

He let me share it and it was nice and flaky, definitely more croissant than doughnut.

After some rest time at the hotel, we headed out for our dinner ADR at the Yachtsman. We got the bus to Epcot then just walked through the park to the International Gateway and out to the Yacht Club. After stopping in the lobby to take some pics of the tree and the winter village, we checked in for our ADR and only waited a couple of minutes before being shown to our table.

Bread service was first - pull apart onion bread and sourdough, served with salted butter and roasted garlic. This was fab and we ate all of it, oops.

We both ordered red wine - a Rioja for me and Malbec for DH. At this point I would like to clarify that this photo was deliberately taken at a jaunty angle and no wine had been consumed at this point!

For mains, we shared one of the signature dishes - the porterhouse for two, cooked medium rare and served with duck fat potatoes and another choice of side - we went for braised mushrooms.

This was incredible, perfectly cooked and definitely in my top 5 steaks of all time. I would recommend this to anyone who is planning to visit the Yachtsman.

Once we’d cleared our entree plates, it was time for dessert. There was a creme brûlée on the menu but the Narcoossee’s version was still making my mouth water and I didn’t want to sully its memory in case the more traditional version was inferior. 🤣 So instead, tempted by the prospect of salted caramel and buttered popcorn ice cream and a honey marshmallow, i plumped for the Lexington Sundae.

This was enormous - in fact the marshmallow alone was huge. The strong sweetness of the marshmallow contrasted well with the equally strong saltiness of the salted caramel ice cream in particular. It was a struggle but I ate it all...

DH, meanwhile, went for the lime semifreddo with meringue, blackberry and guava. He complained at first he wasn’t getting any lime, but later reported back that “one end was limier than the other”! 🤣

This was our favourite meal of the holiday so far - we really enjoyed everything. It would have been $181 OOP but cost us 4TS. We also had a lovely server once again and tipped 20% in cash.

And that was it for food for us! We walked back to Epcot, stopping at the Beach club to check out the gingerbread carousel, before watching Illuminations with the spectacular holiday ending.

That steak at the Yachtsman! One of our favorite restaurants but usually we have the fillet- tempted to share the porterhouse now. Sounded a lovely full day.

I would normally go for a fillet too but did not regret this choice at all!

Do you serve yourself from the skillet with the shared porterhouse or do they serve you?

Wouldn't it better to order the different steaks separately?

They slice all of the meat off the bone for you and then you serve yourself from the skillet.

What’s better is subjective I think; in this case we wanted to order the Porterhouse so that’s what we did.

Not a criticism. Just a question as I would never cook filet and sirloin together on the bone.

Day 8

We started the day at Hollywood Studios. While we waited for our first FP (Toy Story Mania) to come around, we did Star Tours as a walk on (the only one in the park - as a general observation the crowds for the week after thanksgiving were much larger than those we’d had when we visited at the same time 5 years previous).

I should have known better as while I don’t generally suffer from motion sickness, I do feel a bit iffy if I ride a more intense ride on an empty stomach. DH, who can get motion sickness on simulators, was feeling even worse. So we stopped at a snack cart and spent 2 snack credits on a bottle of water and a cream cheese stuffed pretzel.

DH quite liked this. I thought it was ok but not a patch on my beloved jalapeño cream cheese pretzel.

We did our three FPs and then had some time to kill before our lunch ADR, so I had a cocktail.

This is Christmas on the Beach - blue Curacao liqueur, Caribbean rum, and pineapple and cranberry juices. Apart from the cranberry garnishes, which were tart, this was an incredibly sweet cocktail and so I wouldn’t choose it again. I also later lost the glow cube somewhere - I think at our lunch ADR. Fail all round! It was $14.65 OOP when tax was included and as it was made by a bar tender rather than being premixed, I tipped accordingly.

We then made our way to our lunch ADR at Sci Fi Dine In. Again we only waited a few minutes after checking in before we were escorted to the back seat of a car, where we were hitchhiking with a family of 4.

It was at this point of the holiday that I learned it is, in fact, possible to make a horrible margarita. I ordered a Habanero Lime Martian Margarita - Patrón Silver Tequila, Habanero Lime, and House-made Sweet-and-Sour. I think the proportion of sweet and sour to everything else was too high (or at least not to my taste) and the more I drank, the worse it got. I ultimately didn’t finish it and instead decided it was a sign to stick to water. DH had already stuck to Coke.

For food I ordered the Classic American Burger - Beef served on a Brioche Bun with Caramelized Onions, American Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce, and Gourmet Tomato. Well, we were a week into the holiday and I hadn’t had a burger and fries yet! I had this cooked medium-well and it was tasty.

DH had something Pastrami-style - I think it was the Smoked Prime Rib served on Grilled Marble Rye with Grain Mustard Coleslaw, Caramelized Onions, and Swiss Cheese, which doesn’t appear to be on the menu at the Disney site any more and is in fact described as a cheesesteak on the receipt. He thought it was just ok and wasn’t a huge fan of the rye bread.

For desserts we chose the hot fudge sundae (me) and the S'mores Brownie and Ice Cream (DH), and managed to eat most of both of them.

We used 2 TS credits and tipped the suggested 20% in cash.

From this meal we learned a couple of things:

1. Neither of us are good at or enjoy eating in the dark, and

2. We did the right thing focusing on 2 TS credit restaurants as a meal like this would be too much for us every day.

As it is we had to go back to the hotel and take a nap, which lasted longer than we meant to!

After our snoozes we went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and our only other food was from the treat stands - we tried the gingerbread cookie and egg nog, the chocolate chip cookie and sno cone, the snickerdoodle and hot cocoa and the peppermint cookie. DH liked the chocolate chip best while I liked the peppermint.

Other than that we rode a lot of rides as the waits were generally short - 35 mins for Mine Train was the highest - and watched the fireworks and second parade. We came off Mine Train just before midnight and called it a night!
