The fruit for Christmas cakes has been soaking in sherry for a month already.
Ordered a picture for the parents for Christmas as well.

Wow, that's brilliant. I have only just discovered a box with my recipe books in from the move 3 years ago. I am hoping that's where I put my adapted recipe, which I spent a good 10 years perfecting. The last christmas cakes haven't been the same. Will have to do one with just orange juice though.

Not looking forward to Christmas this year, DH is working away for the first time, gone Nov-Mar. We are supposed to be moving into our forever home in November. And then with Covid it all feels so unknown, really not sure what to make of it this year. It’ll either be a welcome celebration to say goodbye to 2020, or I will just want to ignore it! (Not that I would as I have kids)

I might start planning for 2021’s Christmas ha!

Oh no. What is your husband’s job? Would it be possible to arrange a surprise visit by you & the kids to his work. Book into a near y hotel etc

Military. We could technically go out (Cyprus) but it depends on his working schedule as he doesn’t get annual leave out there. I’ve often worried seeing him part way would be more unsettling for the kids than not, if that makes sense, it takes a little while to get into the stride of things when he’s gone.

I put the Brussels on to cook on Saturday so they should be nice and soft for the Big Day.
