Postponing virgin holiday

So I booked through virgin for flights, villa and car hire back in march

We are trying to buy a house at the moment and things will be a bit tight.

We can still afford the holiday but won't be able to take as much spending money etc as we would like.

Has anyone ever postponed a holiday for the following year? What were the costs involved?

We moved our 2015 holiday to 2017, but someone mentioned on another thread that VH recently changed their policy so that you have to rebook on the same day you cancel the original holiday. That would affect how far out you can move it, so you might want to cancel nearer the time that your balance is due.

I've always found the online chat reps to be very helpful at explaining options.
