N.Irish/Irish Dibbers VA (Dub-Man-Mco)
Anyone done this route with Virgin. Aer Lingus from Dub-Man then Virgin from Man-Mco and booked through the likes of ebookers or Expedia
Want to be sure it’s a legit codeshare and bags go all the way through from Dublin and there will be no baggage fees on either flight. Only giving free checked bag for Aer Lingus part Usually do BA (Dub-Lgw-Mco) and when booking it says operated by BA. In this case with Virgin it says multiple airlines

I’ve done it many times. All booked with American holidays so on one ticket so all bags are check right through from Dublin to Orlando. We always need to get new boarding passes though when we arrive in Manchester as the Aer Lingus ones that they give you when you check in in Dublin don’t work!

Any issues coming home with the Virgin boarding passes getting onto the Aer Lingus flight? Just checking time wise if we need to factor in a trip to the customer services

Last time we went this route we were waiting to board the flight at the gate & our names where called out to go to the desk.there was a virgin desk in that area & they had noticed we didn’t have virgin boarding passes, we showed them the ones Aer Lingus gave us & she said you need our passes.
We’ve also gone to Vegas from Dub-Gat-Vegas but we got our boarding passes when we got to the Virgin terminal. Edited at 10:11 PM. |

From memory I think we got them when we checked in st Dublin for the return flight. I’m going next week again with both airlines to San Francisco so I’ll report back with a fresh memory!

We are going Cork Man MCO...and same route back.
this will be our first time on this route. Bags are booked all the way through. We have seats booked on Aerlingus/Stobart and with Virgin I hadn't thought about tickets/boarding passes. But I may contact Aerlingus and Virgin. We are not going until August so be interested to see how you get on. We have around 2.5 hours from landing in Man to take off but that seems loads of time |

Why fly from Dub to USA via UK when we have so many options and good choices for flying from Dub to USA via a USA airport.
You miss out on pre clearence which is a huge benefit of Dublin airport. We did the BFS - Man - MCO many years ago and found coming back very hard. Sitting in Manchester airport for 4 hours was a killer as you just want to be home. The last trips we have flown were with AA, Delta and United, which we found as good as if not better than our Virgin flight. Also flying to MAN is like going the wrong way. The benefit we find of indirect but stopping in a USA airport is that you get to have a decent meal before a short flight to MCO and arrive in Orlando more relaxed. When you come home, you have your long flight but then arrive in Dublin rather than having to wait for your next flight. Aerlingus is part of BA, so you may or may not find that flying Aerlingus and then Virgin is not checked all the way through, in either direction. Also Expedia has become much clearer in which legs include luggage.

It’s much more cheaper doing this, believe me I check every possible way to get there & it seems flying direct with Aer Lingus is far more expensive. Even flying indirect via Dublin works out more than flying to say Man or Gatwick first.
I do this route a lot & everything is definitely checked the whole way through. |

Its also worth checking between expedia.ie and expedia.co.uk
We have found the same flights massively different between the 2.
