Amazon echo dot

The 3rd gen echo dots are currently down to £29.99 on amazon. Not available for dispatch until end of jan but if interested in getting them it’s worth ordering at reduced price and get them reserved.

I would!

We bought out SD one in the Black Friday sale when they went to £25! It was part of her Christmas and she loves it!

Hubby is tech daft and has the Alexa in the Living Room, Kitchen, Office and our Bedroom!

You can do so much with them!

Literally ask it anything Google ideas if you're stuck!

We have the nest thermostat and Phillips Hue Lighting and we can control our lights and heating with it.

If you have friends and family with them, you can say "Alexa, drop in on XXX" and it will call them you then just say "Alexa Hang Up" when done

My dad has the echo and I like the fact we can play the radio through it or take into the garden in the summer.

I actually wanted to it announce dinner is ready rahter than me shouting like a banshee from the kitchen,

Consequently we have 3 on order although won’t arrive Until Feb.

We also, have WiFi plugs that are compatible with Alexa as well

Yep we’ve got a v2 in our bedroom and got the kids both a v3 for Christmas in Black Friday sale. The main differences I can see is that they are material instead of plastic and the sound quality when playing music is far superior on the v3, it sounds pretty good. I’m not sure of any differences when using smart plugs etc as we don’t have any yet.

V2 vs V3 the V3 is much better sound quality and has a better micrphone, it also does not use a standard USB adaptor. The App (Alexa) which runs on them is the same and so all smart stuff is the same.
If you have more then one then try "dropin" it works like a intercom. If you have friends or family with them you can "call" them , or send them messages.
I have smart plugs linked to mine and they are all set up with timers.
I use one to wake me up to radio in a morning.
I even bought a couple of echo buttons and now use one as a doorbell. When its pressed the echo annouces someone is at the door and also sends me a message on my mobile phone.
If you use the bus a lot a good app is BusInfo. configure it with the bus stop codes you use and it will tell you when the next bus is due.
For music you can link to the likes of spotify (paid account) or tunein radio. Or if you have a plex server running you can link to that.
there is also a websit IFTTT where you can do other things with it. One nice one is that it detects when your in an area and can trigger smart devices for you.
