Amsterdam Dec 2018 - Day 2 Anne Franks House & Foodhallen

Day 2 - Anne Franks House & Foodhallen

Tuesday 11th Dec -

We slept in quite late today! Didn’t wake up until after 11am. By the time we go ready it was after 12 and I had a video for work that I needed to film and submit so I made Mick put on some earphones and listen to music while I filmed it. Once I was done we were ready to leave and do some exploring. We headed the opposite direction from yesterday and wandered up the streets, getting photos of the beautiful canals. We then walked up towards Dam Square and stopped off for lunch at Café Van Daele and we sat outside. We both had toasties and I had a latte and Mick a pint.

We headed over to Dam Square. I got some photos of the Royal Palace and we watched a street performer who was quite annoying – he loved an audience and an appreciation!

We then stopped for some more canal photos and the bike we were posing in front ofs owner returned so he unluckily got asked to take a photo!

We continued on until we arrived at the Anne Frank museum and only had a short wait until it was our time to go in. You get an audio guide, which you listen to as you go through the museum and house. No photos are allowed and the stairs are steep and it’s cramped – a note if you’re claustrophobic. I thought it was very well done to tell the story of what the Frank family had endured and what it was like for them during that time.

We headed back into the main section of Amsterdam and sat outside Il Panorama for a Fanta for me, and a pint for Mick catching the last of the daylight!

We then headed over to the S*x Museum for a gander. What a place, a bit of fun and cheap entry fee. No photos as they would be inappropriate Only takes about 10/15 mins to go through it all. It was then back to our hotel to freshen up and get ready for the evening.

We headed down to the hotel bar for a cocktail and then caught the tram to Foodhallen – an indoor food and drink market in Amsterdam. It was mostly locals that were here and it was very busy when we arrived ( Tue evening so didn’t expect it to be busy) we eventually managed to find two seats and ordered BBQ pulled pork rolls for us both then a burger and chips after. I had on my gin t-shirt so naturally had to get a gin and tonic. They had a gin bar but very pricey €14.

I went for the Botanist gin and Fevertree tonic (everywhere had Fevertree in the Dam) Mick had another beer I didn’t due to the cost of my gin :O and we then got an Uber back to the hotel. We finished the evening back in the hotel bar again – the staff are so lovely here and it’s got a great atmosphere. I had a prosecco and cocktail and just a pint for Mick.

Thanks for reading! xo.

Day 3 Here!
