I'm travelling solo and have to get London underground to Victoria station to get train to Gatwick...so would rather just negotiate with one suitcase plus hand luggage. It will be OK on my return as I always get Airportr to deliver my luggage from Gatwick to home within a couple of hours of me returning to the UK (I highly recommend them).

we were told several years ago that as long as it was under 25kg you'd be fine but our last few flights they have been much stricter and wouldn't allow 23.5kg but 23.4kg or less was ok.

Well I put took a chance and put a few 'just in case I need it' items of clothing in my case and did twilight check-in @4pm and it weighed 24.8KG. The lovely lady who checked it in didn't even bat an eyelid and just attached a heavy label on it. Now in the Premier Inn North terminal chilling out after an awful journey from London Victoria because of train cancellations. Let the holiday begin.

not a dig at you, but inconsistency is a real bug bear of mine. We've been made to rearrange / take out stuff to get within the 23.5kg on our last couple of flights with BA even though we'd purchased additional luggage.

I'm not sure if it maybe be that my allowance is two cases but I took one within the other.

I think it's more likely who serves you and how they feel on the the day!

Might be. Some airlines allow you to pool weight, not sure if BA does. I know Jet2 does if all on the same booking.
