Never Cruised - Stay and cruise help please
Hello there
We have been lucky enough to visit Disneyworld 3 times and have stayed in the Disney resorts as we like to use the transportation. As much as we loved it last year , staying at Pop Century, being of a certain age lol we did find it tiring and could have done with a holiday after the holiday Hubby suggested a stay and cruise, but I am overwhelmed by it all so can I ask these initial questions please : Can you do 7 days at a Disney Resort, then 7 days at sea ? How easy is it to get from the resort to port ? Do you have to fly back from America ? Are " normal " cruises available, not a Disney one , if booking a Disney holiday ? Which is a more relaxing cruise ? Sorry for all the perhaps dumb questions Looking at October/November 2020 We are not bothered, as such, where we cruise to and from , just a break from a busy week previously to re-charge our batteries . Thank you in advance for your help, much appreciated as always Shirley X Edited at 09:16 PM. |

Firstly, you have more choice of cruise lines, durations and itineraries if you sail from Fort Lauderdale or Miami.
I am sure there will be transfers from Orlando but we have always done a one way car rental. To get an overview of what’s available have a look at a website like Vacationstogo. Not all cruise lines allow you to book with a US agent. Seven day cruises will be round trip ie start and finish in same port. |

We’ve done three stay and cruise holidays. Actually, we only went to Orlando the first time because we wanted to do the cruise .
We stay on Idrive for a week (cheap and cheerful Rosen Inn @ Pointe). On the day of the cruise (always been a Sunday for us) we take a transfer to Port Canaveral. Cruise for a week then the following sunday transfer back to the airport for our flight home. We’ve alway cruised with Royal Caribbean and love it 😊. We’ve done both the eastern and western itineraries and enjoy them both equally. This year we are doin Vegas for five nights, Orlando for two then a week cruise. Feel free to PM if you’ve any questions . |

Should have said, very easy to transfer to the port. We’ve always used private transfers (shuttle buses are available I believe from the airport and probably other areas) and this year we plan to use Lyft. None of us have any desire to drive there!
A cruise is as relaxing or full on as you want it to be. We just seem to eat/drink/sleep then repeat . |

We have booked a 7 night cruise next Easter with royal Caribbean but will fly out a week before and do 6 nights in Orlando then drive down and do a night in Miami then set sail and fly home from Miami when we get back. If you pick a cruise you like first you can then book flights and hotel around it.

Stay & Cruise is fantastic. Actually it also gives you a bit of leeway if there were any problems with the outbound flight. Much better to miss a day off the “stay” part of your holiday than miss the departure of the cruise.
We’ve done it a couple of times previously and stayed a few days before, also it helps you adjust to the jet lag so you can enjoy the cruise ship more. In fact we’ve just booked for 2020 to do exactly this. Have a great time! |

It would be great if people didn't PM their questions - that's why this forum is so great as we can all see the questions and answers so can learn from them.
Share your knowledge, it's all great! Joa
