New Orleans to Memphis
Hi all,
We’re in the very early stages of planning our road trip for next year. I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas of where to stop on the way from New Orleans to Memphis? I think it’s about a 5/6 hour drive so would ideally like somewhere to go on the way as a pit stop. Thanks in advance

We did Memphis to New Orleans but did the straight drive with no stop over. Was an easy drive and quite pleasant

Hi,
We did this in the summer. It's a fairly functional route with not too many highlights on the way. Some people spend a day or so and drive up further west along the blues trail, but we wanted the shortest route. We decided to drive over the Pontchartrain Causeway which seemed a good idea but quickly becomes monotonous. Stopped off at an IHOP for breakfast in Covington and then stopped again just at one of services for a quick pitstop. The drive was easy enough and yes around 5-6 hours. |

Look into driving along the Natchez Trace Parkway. It runs from Natchez to Nashville and is a fantastic route, very peaceful and scenic with minimum traffic. A much better drive than the makn roads. You can go off the route for overnight stops.
