Heathrow to Las Angeles to New Zealand
Hi, a colleague is trying to figure out whether her bags will be automatically taken off 1 plane and onto the second or if she has to collect them.
Flying from heathrow to LA on virgin then on air New Zealand for the second flight. Has a 3 hour wait so no issue there. I think they are different terminals so probably need to collect bags first but grateful for any advice

Usually you have to transit them through..
We’ve done that flight, it’s a killer. If it’s a possibility of a stopover I would definitely recommend it..

I think you need to both clear immigration & customs with bags at your 1st stop in the US so yes, a need to collect bags & then check them in again but someone will tell me if I’m wrong.
Does her ticket/itinerary or the LAX website not tell her which terminal(s) her flights/airlines arrive at/depart from? |
