Birthday break to Barcelona - November 2017

This was a very last minute break away booked by my OH Jim for my birthday. In fact it was booked the Sunday before we left on the Friday
The kids were staying with their Dad for the weekend and my lovely parents were looking after Boris our golden lab.

At first we weren’t really sure where we were going to go. We both had a wish list of cities and my only ask was to visit a Christmas market, you know for my shopping fix . As we had left it so last minute and we were tied with dates, times and more importantly budget Barcelona came in the best for what we needed. We booked a flight and hotel package through British Airways, this was £520 for both of us.
We flew out of LHR on Friday 24th November at 7.45am then back on Sunday 26th at 10.10am. We only had one full day but luckily we landed mid morning on the Friday so we got most of that day too.
Our hotel was the Universal Hotel Barcelona and by looking on the map it looked fairly central. All that was left to do was book a cab to Heathrow which was nice and simple!
Oh and Jim announced we were going to go hand luggage only . If anyone has read my past trip reports will know I’m partial to NEVER travelling light and I LOVE to shop! Let’s see how I cope...
