We did really enjoy AK this summer and it went from being bottom of our list of parks to a firm favourite. I love the layout of it with all the different lands coming out from the centre.

It was great to not feel like we were in a hurry to get on rides or see a show or something in the evening. We really enjoyed just chilling out for an hour or so at the Nomad lounge, it was weird to think we were in the middle of a theme park as you couldn't see any of that from where we were, it was also surprisingly quiet back there too.

The food issues at HS sound really frustrating, there is nothing worse than being hungry and not able to find anything.

Tusker House looks really good, and a great server makes a big difference to the whole experience. I did laugh at Max's plates of food though!

I'm with you on Rivers of Light, ok but didn't blow me away

I think with hindsight I should have just got in the massive Starbucks queue and accepted it!

Max does need some lessons on buffet gluttony, his plates are really funny aren't they?

After a not so successful start your day ended up sounding wonderful!
Although I think you managed quite a bit at HS, but I know what its like when things don't quite go according to plan. I'm gutted we didn't go to HS this year, I really want to visit Toy Story Land. Slinky Dog looks great fun! Is it really fast?
Next time we go to AK I really want to try lunch at Tusker House, it looks gorgeous. To have the restaurant half empty is a real bonus too!
Drinks in the Nomad Lounge look right up my street too! You didn't let us down with your choice of cocktails either .

Toy Story land was always so crowded we didn't hang around there too much but it was fab. I think in a year or so when it's a bit quieter it will be even better. The green army men were wandering around a bit and I used to love it when we would stumble upon them in pixar place as it was in HS. The slinky dog ride was pretty great and is a fun little coaster the stop start bit of it is fun. It's not too fast though.

The cocktails in Nomad Lounge were lovely. It was just a lovely evening where we could relax and chill out without feeling like we needed to do all the rides and rush around to places. Honestly I couldn't have rush if I tried I was that full, not so full I couldn't manage a cocktail or two!

By the way I've just spotted your new countdown! A white Christmas in the Alps sounds fab. How did you get on with the Berlin Christmas markets? Did you enjoy it out there? I bet there was lots of shopping!

Hey! Yes Jim has talked me into going skiing with his family . I however will only be partaking in the apres ski, I'm far too much of a wimp for the actual thing . The kids are booked into ski school whilst I'll be watching from the balcony .
Berlin was amazing, probably one of my favourite European cities. I'll be doing my trip report as soon as I've finished the mammoth summer report! And there was of course lots of shopping

I'll look out for the Berlin trippie.

I hope you enjoy the apres ski...if the others are all out on the slopes I think it will be even nicer

Glad to see the afternoon and evening were such a hit . Looks like a fabulous time in AK with all the wonderful food and drinks and a bit of downtime .
How does Max survive on so little food !

I wish I could just have let the irritants at the start of the day slide off and not let it bother me! I'm glad it would have annoyed you too and it isn't just me.

Definitely a better afternoon and evening!

Despite a bit of a frustrating morning you still seemed to do well at Hollywood Studios. How annoying that they open so early but the only place open and serving food is Starbucks?! You would think they'd spot an opportunity to make money and open some places up, even if it is just a limited breakfast menu.

That's a great picture of Max hugging Chewbacca and on Slinky Dog... see, he is having fun really!

I agree with you about the front row on ToT and both times have requested to not be at the front. It's just to close to the window that opens and I am a scaredy cat.

Tusker House for dinner looks brilliant. We weren't that happy with our breakfast there. The food was good but we had a crummy table and it was about a million degrees (due to the crummy table the air con didn't seem to reach us). I might give it another try as your plates look delicious - even Max's!

The face of the man behind Kate in your Dinosaur picture is similar to mine - that ride is scary! I love that they laughed all the way round.

After a rocky start it turned into another really good day!
