What do you do all day in Las Vegas

Hi all

My mum wants to go to Vegas to see the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Damn.

Please excuse my ignorance, but if we went for 5 nights what would we do on the free days that we have got?

It's not somewhere I've ever felt the urge to go.

Many thanks

Ideally you will want to go the the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is a 4 hour drive from Las Vegas and you need a good 6-8 hours there to see it all at a comfortable pace, and ideally you would want to be there for a sunset or sunrise.

I would suggest at least one overnight stay in one of the lodges in the Grand Canyon.

The Hoover Dam is on the way, so can be done in either direction.

We spent our time just walking around the hotels. Some of them are destinations in themselves.

Edited at 07:05 PM.

Walk a lot .. easily 15km each day

We go every year for 10-12 days always find something new to do , the main strip is about 4 miles long full of hotels which all have attractions & shops . There’s shopping malls , outlets , places like Red Rock , valley of fire nearby ( we always have a car and wouldn’t not do ).
Shows if that’s your kind of thing .

You can very easily fill a few days .

I also would suggest an overnight at Grand Canyon. Its amazing. You can easily spend the rest of the time looking at the hotels on the strip. Venetian is lovely to look around as are Wynn and Bellagio conservatory. Paris , and NYNY worth a look.

One of the things we did last time was horseriding in Red Rock Canyon, its only a short drive away, and they came and picked us up anyway. Gets you out of all the hustle and bustle for a few hours.

All of the strip hotels are good to go in for a nose around, watch the Bellagio fountains from the top of the Eiffel Tower, so much to do

Soooooo much to do - we are planning our 4th trip and still haven't done everything and won't get everything done. Some ideas for you that we've enjoyed during the day time are:-

Stratosphere tower and rides (if a thrill seeker - also nice at night)
Sigfried and Roys secret garden at the mirage
Madame Tussauds
Free shows at the piano bar at Harrahs - big elvis and the saxophone man play in the afternoon
Mac King magic show - he was fantastic and has performances at 1 and 3
Nathan Burton - cheap tickets on groupon - 4pm show
Frederick Da Silva is great and he has a 4 o clock show too - does mind reading and similar
Titanic exhibition at the luxor
Twilight zone crazy golf at ballys
Flamingo habitat at the flamingo
Massive shopping centre at Planet Hollywood - Miracle Mile
Outlets
Marvel museum (this was more for my other half)
Hersheys chocolate world at New York New York hotel (there is also an M&M one and Cocacola one we've not yet got to)
Caesars shopping centre is fun and has a fall of atlantis anamatronic show which is free
Bellagio fountains and conservatory
Food food food - we often have a big lunch and just a quick bite for evening meal
Big aquarium at Mandalay bay but not overly impressive to be honest...
Vegas sign
Fremont has some cool bits to check out - photo with a million dollars, biggest golden nugget, slotzilla etc.
High roller and the linq area is great in the day and at night
Eiffel towel - we went up at night but I'm sure would be fun (and cheaper) in the day too!

On this next trip we are looking to do Top Golf at MGM grand, Neon Boneyard which we plan to do in the day as we saw the Brilliant light show at night when we went. There are escape rooms, nice pools, mob museum and all sorts.

It will take you a lot longer than it looks to walk from thing to thing also - the hotels are incredible to walk round.

You definitely won't be short on things to do :-) Any questions ask away xx
