Hope this is the right place to post this...

Has anyone ordered from Main street press? wondering if any extra charges levied by post office on UK arrival?

thanks

When ordering any goods from the US for delivery to the UK; depending on cost of goods, selection of packages for inspection etc, you may be subject to customs charges by HMRC plus any other costs such as holding/admin fees that may be charged by the Post Office/courier company etc.

Sometimes you have to pay these before the items are released to you; sometimes the goods are delivered and you'll receive an invoice afterwards.

The customs charges and VAT if applicable, are charged on the value of the item PLUS the postage. If it’s a heavy package the postage would be high.

I have ordered from them before and was very happy with the quality.

I don't remember specifically whether my order ended up with a VAT bill or not. I have had t-shirts from various US small shops get charged and some not.

If the VAT would make it or break it and you're ordering with a trip in mind, try shipping to a personal shopper instead? Otherwise, I would always say budget to pay the VAT and if you don't get caught, then you have extra rather than the other way round.
