Aladdin live action (trailer)

Anyone seen the latest trailer for this?

On the one hand I'm sure it will be really good- despite the 'ahhh don't mess with a classic!' reflex, I really liked what they did with Beauty and the Beast.

But on the other hand, like most of the Youtube comments say, the casting seems wrong. I can't get my head around the Will Smith genie, and Jafar looks no older than Aladdin! I wonder if they did that on purpose so it's not as creepy that Jafar wants to marry Jasmine?

That Will Smith part at the end is dreadful. I am not sure if they just picked a bad clip...or is it going to be that bad throughout the entire film?

I watched a Youtube video where they said just the same thing... is that the finished article or is the CGI a work in progress? It doesn't look good does it!

They also pointed out at in the start of the trailer when Jafar is sending Aladdin into the cave of wonders, he's as Jafar and not disguided as an old beggar. So are they just changing it totally around and Aladdin isn't tricked by him?

My first impression of the 🧞 is just terrible. I’ll have to give the film a chance, but no just no. We’ve been spoilt by the irreplaceable Robin Williams RIP.

The way some actors define a role, anyone who tries to fill the same shoes looks like a pale imitation.

Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau comes to mind. I really like him, but not as Clouseau.

I actually liked the trailer much more than I thought I would, until the Genie appeared. The change in dynamic was jarring.

Shame. I think I'd look forward to seeing it otherwise - especially with the fantastic Disney music.

Ooh - is is a tough one. Love the look of the film, but the genie will always be Robin Williams. I’m inclined to say the should have tried something totally different to try and minimise the comparison, but then blue genie is the Disney genie. Will smith just seemed a little lacking in that clip

I was so looking forward to seeing this adaptation of the original as it is my favourite animated movie but hugely disappointed with the look so far. Will Smith doesn’t seem the right fit and would much prefer somebody like Dynane Johnston and Jafar could pass as Aladdin’s brother, 😆, I would have casted somebody like Sir Ben Kingsley. Hopefully I will be proved wrong but if not then the Lion King will cheer me up.

Agreed... looks so much better. Maybe they shouldn't have jumped the gun just to get something out there during the Super Bowl.
