Sinkholes
I’ve just watched the TV program about Florida sinkholes. I find it so interesting, a little bit frightening but mainly fascinating!
Has anyone seen any, I don’t mean the water filled ones that are all over but a newly formed one?

Yes we have our friends who are Floridian born and bred have had one open up on their vast property well away from the house I add when we were there a couple of years ago for thanks giving the noise it makes is unforgettable and the fact that it was slow then a very sudden rapid expansion was frightening

I imagine it’s a very surreal experience, I’m glad it’s well away from your friends property! I can’t imagine what it must be like to live somewhere where they are so common.

It was but no way as surreal as watching a heard of elephants heading for water on a uni friends farm in South Africa the house shook more then
We are just not really used to dealing with Mother Nature other than floods and snow when it flings it as us |

It was pretty interesting watching it. I have never seen any on the news in all my visits. Yet there's over a thousand each year they said in the Florida Kissimmee area. 😳
Is that covered by insurance I wonder? Or an act of God? 🤔

Yes you can get limited cover for it but just as Irma put up all home owners insurance a sink hole in your community adds $100sd to home

Sinkholes are certainly not top of the tourist attractions😊. Imagine Virgin holidays... come to Florida for sun, theme parks, beautiful beaches and the change of disappearing into a sink hole big enough to swallow a 747! 😟. As long as The Disney theme parks don’t fall into one I don’t think I’m going to loose sleep over it!

We had just arrived at the start of June 2014 and one of our first park days was legoland. We saw the parking lot in a mess following this sinkhole.
eu.usatoday/story/news/n...orida/9734017/ Interesting to see the impact it had.
