We are likely to earn our first companion voucher in the next month or so before the June 2022 time frame.

Once we have received that voucher, would BA be able to amend an existing booking to accommodate the voucher?

If there’s 2 of us adults plus a child, then I can probably use the voucher to make the child fare free?
No it isn't possible to use a voucher in retrospect. Bear in mind the voucher can only be used in conjunction with reward flight availability not cash fares.

Our travel route would be GLA-LGW-TPA and same back

Thanks
You usually would need to ring BA to book flights if children under 16 are travelling alone as it cannot be done on line. As you would also be travelling it shouldn't be a problem but you would need to sort your flights out first I think. The best place to ask would be the BAEC section on Flyertalk.com.

As to booking seats, we travel from Glasgow via London and have never booked seats as a family and never been separated. You will be able to select seats for both outbound legs 24 hours before your Glasgow - London flight.

They were reward flights as I have to call the Blue Club line and get them to sort all the booking out. Plus there was only 3 of these flights left at the time.

Disappointing that you can’t retrospectively add the 2for1 but I expected tough rules on them. 2 years would have been ideal for redeeming but I think that’s dropped to a year now.

It’s still 2 years with vouchers earned from the premium card. It’s the free card that has always been 1 year.

I have the fee-free card and I have until April 2023 to use it. I think it's been extended to 18 months due to the pandemic. Any vouchers earned after Jan 2022 will be back to 12 months

Well I'm hoping to redeem mine on Wednesday when my return flights are released. A tad nervous as I'll be splitting my party to do so. Does anyone know if BA will link the bookings over chat or if I would need to call them?

My 241 companion voucher expires June 22. GUTTED as needed to use it for October 2022. Anybody ever called BA to see if they would extend it or is it a definite no no?

They won’t extend the actual voucher. No one on the phone has the authority to do that but you can use the workaround to lock it up in a Future Travel Voucher (FTV), which can be used for flights completed by 30/9/23. We’ve just been discussing it in another thread. Here’s my post:

It is a good trick to use. I’ve one floating around that I’ll need to extend soon.

You book a cheap reward booking using the voucher and Avios. London to Manchester will do. Then cancel for an FTV. The Avios, companion voucher and taxes will be held in the FTV. When you’re ready to book your new flights you call/live chat to book, where they’ll take the extra Avios and taxes/fees.

2 things with this. The passengers must be the same, you cannot change them when you use the FTV. The current expiry date on an FTV is travel to be completed by 30/9/23 (not redemption of the voucher). Obviously there’s a chance this date will be extended. Not just because of covid but from what I’ve read BA will legally have to refund the voucher value as cash on expiry date and they won’t want to do that.
