Disney perks at end of holiday

Looking at starting cheap and cheerful for 12 nights, then Universal 3 nights and finishing off at a hotel with FP at 60 days for 9 nights.
I guess I’ll be able to make on-site FP before the offsite days, but at least I’ll know what we’ve already got.
I know people usually do it the other way round, but we want to finish on a high.
Any downsides to this that I’ve missed?

There are no fastpasses at the moment and nobody knows when they are coming back.

Also I don’t understand what you mean by

I guess I’ll be able to make on-site FP before the offsite days
It might be worth clarifying that for proper advise, on the assumption FP are back in place, what is it you want to do?

It’s difficult to know at this point if your plan will have any downsides as all the normal stuff is suspended. Previously with free dining you couldn’t activate your Disney tickets before your onsite stay. That’s probably irrelevant now but if Disney release some sort of package deal it may become relevant.

Only other thing to add is that also currently there is no 21 day ticket option so might affect any planning on initial days

I realise there are no FP at the moment. We’re looking at next August so hoping some normality may return by then.
If we are on site we can book from 60 days out, off site from 30. So wouldn’t that mean we would book fast passes on site before those offsite?
We are booking using BA book with confidence so if Disney do offer decent deals we will just cancel ( losing the deposit) and rebook.

I wouldn't book a Disney hotel on the basis that FPs might return. What if they don't, will you still be happy with a Disney hotel anyway?

I had a week off-site at s cheap hotel before a few nights at AKL last year, I could not book FP+ for my off-site days, only the days I was staying onsite and check out day. Looking online beforehand led me to believe I would be able to, not that it was my motivation for booking onsite anyway but turns out the loophole was closed.

The problem was when the ticket was bought as part of a Disney package. The ticket then wasn’t valid until check in day at Disney.

Do you know if you book the onsite at the start then the 60 day trick still works?
I've tried searching but "fastpass" "offsite" etc.. are words that just appear everywhere
