UK isolation rules if someone is positive on plane

Hope this is an OK place to put this... I am not in the 'Current Issues' forum, but just want to get some advice or at least pointed in the right direction.

What is the current rule for fully vaccinated passengers specifically if pinged that someone on your plane traveling back to UK has tested positive. Is there any isolation period even if negative tests lateral flow / PCR tests?

Hoping to travel for the first time in over 18 months for work, but will be the week before Christmas. Need to get back travelling.

Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that currently all fully vaccinated adults and those under 18 are exempt from the need to isolate if they are close contacts of a positive case. We aren't requiring close contacts to isolate in schools currently. I'd imagine if there was concern about a new variant that might change?

My understanding is that you would have to go for a precautionary pcr test but wouldn't need to isolate as double vaccinated unless the pcr was positive.
I am currently covid positive but the rest of my household can carry on as usual as either double vaccinated or under 18.

Thank you.

My plan would likely to book in for PCR test 2/3 days after arriving back anyhow (even if not pinged etc)... not sure if this is a requirement. Isolate at home until test results come back.

Yeah as above. If contacted by test & trace if double vaccinated you would have to get a PCR test, if negative you don’t have to isolate. In NI we have to do a day 8 PCR too so not sure if that would be in your case.

Sorry Mike, I hope you don't mind me jumping on to your thread to ask a similar question. Does anyone know what would happen if someone on your flight out to somewhere (lets say Spain) tested positive? Are you traced via your passenger locator form and required to quarantine wherever you are staying?

That would depend on the regulations in that country.

You will need to do a test on or before day 2 of arriving back regardless of being pinged. Currently you will need to do a lateral flow if arriving in England and PCR elsewhere unless the rules change for the other UK regions.

We often do lateral flows so will certainly be doing them after any trip. Thank you.

We have been pinged after flying home from Spain last week, all our pcr tests negative, dh started chemo last friday so thank god we haven't got it. As we are double vaxxed we don't have to self isolate.
