Southern Dunes is wonderful, greens by UK standards are really quick. Summer pricewise is the best time to play, it will be under $80, there are always deals on. Orange Lake resort will be closer to you and as others have said is really decent, not sure how much we paid for that. Personally wouldn't bother with Highlands Reserve plenty of better courses nearby, IMHO.

Played Falcon's Fire earlier and it was pretty good. I thought the tee boxes were a bit scruffy but the greens were excellent.

Another vote for Grand Cypress here. My daughter and I played here a few years ago, got two or three holes in and a thunderstorm ended our round. We were given a rain check (cheque?) literally and we played our round in its entirety a few days leter.

It's a superb setting and the course is tough but fair. We were a good number of holes into the round and I mentioned the similarity of some of the holes to the Old Course at St Andrews which I've had the pleasure of playing twice, and our playing partners said that the New course at Grand Cypress was designed as homage to the famed Old Course at St. Andrews by Jack Nicklaus. He did a great job and the 18th green was only missing the 1000 year old grass and the big old sandstone buildings and a throng of spectators.

A cold beer in the luxury of the clubhouse bar as the sun was setting really finished the day superby. I'll be trying to get a round in again in a matter of weeks.
