What3words - the app that can save your life

I read about this app on here a couple of years ago and cannot recommend it strongly enough.

They have divided the world into 57 trillion squares - each square is defined by three different words.

It helps emergency services find you at speed, stops anxious parents trying to picking up drunken kids from "oh you know - the house with the white door" at 3 am, and has also helped my elderly mum work her way around a massive car park when lost her car. Just took a screenshot of the three words for her parking space and it directed her straight back.

BBC article today.

google/amp/s/bbc...gland-49319760

Edit - works a treat in WDW to agree a meet spot. V easy to work. Just text the kids the three words and a time. No excuses!

I'd heard this mentioned on our local radio recently but didn't know it was worldwide or really know what it was.

Yes, it's picking up traction a bit. V useful indeed.

I like the fact that you can be in a completely different country, even one with a different aphabet and you can still all identify and get to the same place. No more ambiguity.

I have a few colleagues who use it in that way and are really appreciative. Especially for younger people who can get lost and have no idea where they are but can work a smart phone.

I know it has emergency service benefits but also very useful at a more prosaic level about meeting people and keeping track of kids on night out.

They have to be sober enough to spell words right and not use autocorrect. Could direct them to abercwmtwch if they get it slightly awry!

for goodness sake. You aren't losing the plot. I am.

I thought I had texted a colleague to say I was ready to go. No wonder he hasn't arrived yet 😦
