Hi,
We are due to fly out in August. Does anybody know how far the walk is from getting off the plane to reaching the magical express. My mum suffers badly with her knees (has a stick) and is worried she will hold us all up. Do you have to go through immigration all together or could we send two of us ahead to get luggage while the rest walk slowly with my mum? Thanks in advance. |

Hi
I have never taken the magical express, but when you get off the plane it is a walk to immigration, then standing waiting to get through immigration then you get a shuttle/monorail into the main terminal (with bags if you can manage them or you put them on a second carousel to collect at the far end of the main terminal) all in all it is quite a long walk. You might be better requesting assistance.

Sorry to say it's a fairly long walk. A good few hundred yards from the plane door to the Immigration hall and you could on a bad day be standing in line for 90 mins but it could be 10 mins.
Then about 25 yards through the luggage claim area to the Monorail. After that you enter the main building and cross maybe 15 yards to go down the stairs to the lower level. Then a good few hundred yards to the collection area for the MDE. Could Mum use a wheelchair?

Once in the main terminal it’s down one level. (There are lifts)
Then the me is at the very end of the main building. It’s quite a walk from the plane but yes you could send members of your party through and let your mum walk slowly |

It's a fair walk but I'd be more concerned about the possible long wait in immigration I'd be looking for special assistance to be honest

Thank you so we don't have to go through immigration together even though we are on the same booking?

As far as I am aware the booking is not relevant at immigration, just your passport and printed slip from the self serve kiosk, so yes you could go through separately.

Everybody at the same address has to go through together and clear customs together

As someone who doesn't walk well either, I book "special assistance" with my airline and I'm taken care of very well at both departure and arrival airports. At departure, I'm wheeled through security right through to the gate and loaded first. On arrival there are wheelchairs waiting at the plane exit. The assistant wheeled me through the immigration disabled line (saving over 30 mins) and he then recovered my luggage for me before we boarded the monorail. He then wheeled me to my hotel minibus departure point. They expect a tip though!
I noticed that 'escorts' are allowed to stay with the disabled passenger through immigration. You really should book special assistance with your airline. It's for people like you. |
